Could Leaving The Tampon On For A Day Cause Diarrhea, Fever And Lightheadedness?
I accidentally left a tampon in for about 24 hours. That was just about two days ago when I realized it was in there and took it out right away. I have had diarrhea since not continuous or explosive but there. I haven t had a fever but have been a little light headed off and on too. I am a little concerned it could be TSS but am hesitant to drag my 2 yr old to urgent care if its nothing
A infection can occur as a result of the tampon being left for a prolonged period but normally the initial symptoms should involve the genital urinary tract (cervix, uterus, bladder etc) not the gastrointestinal tract.
The presence of diarrhea implies that you may have gastroenteritis that is not likely related to the tampon. Treatment normally involves: (1) the use of fluids to prevent or treat dehydration (2)probiotics (3)there are also medications such as lomotil or pepto bismol that may help (4)hold off solid foods while symptoms last
I hope this helps
