Could Missing Of Simvastatin Tablets Have Caused Increased Cholesterol Levels?

i had my cholesterol checked this week with a reading of 221. I have been on simvastatin for 7 years and had good results with a reading of 150. I had stop taking simvastatin for 5 days before i had this last test ran. Could that be the reason for the rise from 150 to 221?

Hi
Welcome to HCM.

Incomplete data: You did not mention the dose of Simvastatin that you have been taking for the last 7 years and when was the reading of 150 detected? Is it before stopping Simvastatin or earlier?

It may be due to not taking the medication for a period of 5 days or there is another possibility that the existing dose (assuming to be 10 mg) what you are taking is not sufficient enough to lower the cholesterol.

Hence, you may have to increase the dose of Simvastatin for an effective control of high cholesterol.
Hope this answers your query.
Wishing you a good health.
