Could Next Baby Can Also Have Illness Possessed By Earlier Sibling?
dear dr ..... i have a son with VECTRAL syndrom he has no vertebral defect , no renal defect , he has VSD,ASD, imperforate anus, no right upper limb , dislpasia in the right lower limb he has cholestomy now what shal i do later? is there a chance that it happens in my next vbirths?
Hi,Thanks for the question.Your baby has what is called an association --certain problems (defects ) grouped together ,but which do not have a specific chromosomal change -----best will be for you to have genetic tests done on your baby to see if it is associated with Trisomy 18 or increased number of chromosome 18 ---or other defects .Both parents can also be tested . Usually this combination of defects is sporadic or happens in that pregnancy alone .Most of the defects can be recognised by a fetal Ultrasound at a good Perinatal centre.
