Could Redness Around Mouth After Feeding Wheat Be A Sign Of Coeliac Disease?

Hi, my son is 6 month old. When he was 5.5 months, I started giving him cerelac wheat (stage 1). I noticed redness around his mouth after feeding him so I discontinued wheat and tried rice. That did not cause any redness around the mouth. Did he has wheat allergy? Is he in a danger of developing Coeliac disease?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
In celiac disease, the child has gluten sensitivity at intestinal region that is at small intestine.
I think it's just a coincidence that you have given wheat to child and his mouth near lips became red. I have not seen a single case of celiac disease with this type of history although i have seen many.
I think that your child doesn't have celiac disease. If you want to be 100 percent sure than I suggest you to do TTG levels in child, it will clear all your doubts.
I hope this has helped you. Take care.
