I have had a problem with my wrist for 2 months...it doesnt pain or go numb but when i move my thumb a certain way the pain makes me yell...hard to do certain tasks..my dr perscribed anti inflamitory pills but did not work..am wearing a thumbster brace that to is not working...it really hurts when i move my hand a certain way..i was reading about tendonitis but it says i should have pain a numbness... what shall i do to heal this
in answer to your question yes absolutely. the commonest type of tendonitis on the thumb side of the wrist in DeQuervains tendonitis which affects the abductor tendons of the thumb as they move through a pulley over the radial styoid. straightening the thumb out to side will be painful over bending it across the palm and deviating your wrist away from you at the same time (finkelsteins test). The treatment is anti-inflammatory medication, tendon gliding exercises, local anaesthetic and steroid injections and occasional surgical release of the pulley.
