Could Sharp Pain In Right Side After Bowel Movement Be Due To Diverticular Disease?

I have sharp pains on my right side that started last night after having a bowel movement. I was diagnosed with diverticular disease and thought maybe it was something with it flared up. However the pain with it has always been on my left side. I drank warm water and honey last night and it subdued the pain. When I lie down the pain seems to go away. I have not really had a bowel movement today but feel the urge to go, but nothing hardly comes out? What could this be?
