Could Stomach Discomfort Be A Side Effect Of Nicorette Or Acyclovir?

i am a 42 year old female and i just started using acyclovir for cold sores on my lip. I am currently using nicorette. I am having some stomach upset since I started the acyclovir. I did see that this is a possible side effect. Any reason to be concerned ? anything that might ease the stomach discomfort ?

No acylovir is the reason for the stomach upset that you are facing. Acylovir usually causes acidity & it is well known to cause gastritis in many people.
To tide over the side effects you have to do following things.
1) take the drug after food and never on empty stomach
2) inclusion of curd , buttermilk, milk or other foods known to reduce the acidity
3) can take the antacid drugs such as omeprazole or rabeprazole before food tow times a day when on acylovir.
4) avoiding Nicorette will further benefit you in reducing stomach upset
5) you can have antacid liquids if the trouble is more
