Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Stomach Flu Or Food Poisoning Cause Sharp Pain In Ovaries?
I started what I think was a stomach flu or food poisoning yesterday (fever, chills, bone and muscle aches, headache, extreme fatigue, and lots of vomiting. I did not have a cough or sore throat.). I feel a lot better today, but I've had some brownish red spotting a few times. I noticed the stomach pains were sharpest near my ovaries. Also, the spotting seemed to come after bowel movements. I am not ovulating and my period is not due yet. Could a stomach virus attack your uterus, too?
Vigorous bowel movements may cause spotting or spotting may be seen in implantation if you have undergone unprotected intercourse, or it may be due to polyps or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) etcetera. Until examination, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
