Could Stomach Pain And Diarrhea Be Due To Recurring Clostridium Difficile?

I recently was hospitalized and taking antibiotics for UTI. Since last night I have stomach pain and diarrhea. I have had c diff in the past. I am still on macrobib started on 3/4/14 and am to take it 1x per day for 6 months. (50 mg). I think I may have c diff again. This tx is for a recurring UTI.

Hello,

Your symptoms can be related to Clostridium difficile.

The infection most commonly affects people who have recently been treated with antibiotics.

I recommend doing a stool test.

Treatment consists of antibiotics such as Metronidazole.

I also recommend using daily probiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
