Could Swelling And Open Wounds On The Face Be Due To Glycerin Products?

Hi my daughter had a severe contact dermatitis on her face that caused extreme swelling and open wounds that were oozing about a month ago. She visited a dermatologist and she said she needs to wear sunscreen daily and wear a hat at all times for the next 3 months. She also recommends Cere Ve cream to moisturize due to the flaking skin. This past weekend she was in the sun abit with sunscreen on for a soccer tournament which the dr said it would be ok to have short intervals in the sun without her hat. She has been using the cream and sunscreen and finds her skin has become rashed again and burns when she uses them. Just wondering if the original reaction could have been to Glycerin since all the product have it in it?

Hi.
As per your case history of allergic dermatitis.
My treatment advice is -
1. Glycerine is the least likely chemical to cause allergy.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
