General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Swelling of leg is actually a edema of leg.It is mostly seen in liver diseases, low serum protein, nephrotic syndrome, peripheral vascular disease, deep vein thrombosis(DVT) etc.
You might have DVT because of hospitalization but it can not be due to iv fluids provided that you don't have any heart or kidney disease.
You must consult your treating physician regarding your edema over legs as this is can not be normal.
Take care.
