Hi my Name is Kym and I recently left the hospital due to Pancreatitus, I was heavily injected with IV fluids. for 5 days. I was just discharged sunday afternoon my concern is my legs, knees, and feet are triple in size, so swollen. I m hoping it is just from all the fluids because its 15-20pds extra on my body. I usually weigh 125, the scale said this morning 141
Hi, Swelling of leg is actually a edema of leg.It is mostly seen in liver diseases, low serum protein, nephrotic syndrome, peripheral vascular disease, deep vein thrombosis(DVT) etc. You might have DVT because of hospitalization but it can not be due to iv fluids provided that you don't have any heart or kidney disease. You must consult your treating physician regarding your edema over legs as this is can not be normal. Take care.
