Could The Bruising On The Lower Abdomen Be Due To The Heart Catheter?

Hello - my husband was recently seen for chest pain. He had a heart cath - came back clean. Now, 3 days later, there is one huge bruise (about the size of a baseball) on his lower right abdomen - no where near the cath puncture sight - and a smaller one pretty close to the huge bruise. Is the bruising a cause of the heart cath? Is it serious?

Hi i read your query very carefully.

Yes the bruise may had been caused during the heart cath procedure and is a common complication of the procedure.

I recommend to apply ice and unguentum with heparine over the bruise and to contact your doctor to check up again to rule out any major problem.

Hope it was of help!
