Could The Excruciating Pain In The Jaw To The Bottom Ear Lobe Be Due To Typhoid Vaccination?

I am currently taking an oral typhoid vaccination. I ve just taken the 3rd pill this morning, however, last night I noticed the left side of my jaw in excruciating pain and it hurts to chew or talk. The pain seems to go from the bottom of my left ear lobe down to where my neck starts. It almost feels like when you chew something hard for a while on the same side and your jaw is really really sore and tired on that side. Would that be from the Typhoid vaccine or could it be something different. I ve never felt this before so severely and the only thing different is the Typhoid vaccine that I m taking because I m going over to Thailand in 2 weeks.

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
I think you have got a sore jaw, which can progress to locking if left untreated. It os most probably unrelated to your Oral Typhoid Vaccine. Although there are aome reports of sore or locked jaw after typhoid vaccination, there is no proven evidence of the vaccine being the culprit.
However, you must consult a maxillofacial surgeon at the earliest for management.
Sedation and Manipulation under local anaesthesia may be needed. I would encourage taking liquid and semisolid food for the day, local ice pack for 4 times a day and avoid straining of the jaw. Paracetamol 500 mg may taken as and when required for pain relief until you visit the doctor, but 6 hr interval is to be maintained between two doses.
