Could The Pus Filled Lumps In The Pubic Area Be Infectious?
Hi Dr, I have two small lumps under the skin in my pubes, although they re not painful, one of them reached up to the surface of the skin filled up with yellowish fluid. when it popped up and the fluid is gone, it started to bleed. I went to a family doctor who just took a look at it and prescribed neomycin ointment. now the bleeding is gone and the two lumps are still under the skin. I m starting to worry that they are infectious. please help!

Hello,
1. First is you need to give some details of the lump. Like exactly how it happen, did you shave your pubic area?
2. If yes, then it may be because of that its a kind of folliculitis which happens after we shave off the area with a blade or because of the itch.
Also as we wear tight undergarments which cause heat production leading to itching and formation of these kinds of bumps as the hair follicles get torn up by intense itch.
3. Need not to be worried as your physician have already prescribed you the antibiotic ointment, you can continue with that for 5 days. You will feel better.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
