Could Vitamin B12 Help In Healing Paralysis Below Elbow?

In August 2011 I had a severe dislocation of my shoulder as well as a small fracture at the head of the humerus I was also told that the radial nerve weas overstretched resulting in below elbow paralysis. I have about 50% return of use below the elbow. I was told that it could take at least 3-6 months to heal. I feel that the main problem stems from the elbow area. Would Vit b12 help in the healing ?

Hello,

The paralysis caused by overstretching of the nerve can improve if the nerve heals. Vitamin B12 helps in nerve healing but usually it helps if your serum B12 levels are low otherwise also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopedic Surgeon
