hi,
sleeping in a wrong posture may put your neck and shoulder under stress leading to muscle spasm. you should do hot fomentation 3-4 times a day or else take few sittings of short wave diathermy or IFT from a physiotherapist . u can also start with anti inflammatory and a muscle relaxant twice a day.
if pain doesn,t subside in 3-4 days u will need to get an xray cervical spine anteroposterior and lateral view to rule out underlying cervical spondylosis.
after your pain subsides u should also learn ISOMETRIC neck exercises from a physiotherapist and make them part of your daily routine.
last but not the least u got to have a proper sleep posture.
regards
