Cracked A Rib. On Aleve For Arthritis. Painful. Consume Advil?

I cracked a rib earlier today. I took an aleve tablet first thing this morning for my arthritis. Now the pain from
cracking my rib is excruciating. The only thing I have in the house is extra strength advil. Would that be safe

There should be strapping of chest by elasto-crepe bandage to restrict movement of broken rib in breathing.This itself will relieve pain to large extent. Please see an orthopedist for this purpose. This will offset the need to go for other drugs

You can definitely take advil in the night hours but after consulting your treating physician.

The conservative management of a rib fracture is as follows -
- avoid lying on the injured side, while supine
- ice packing of the painful area once in 2 hours for the first 72 hours
- use an elastic compression bandage with snug fit around the chest wall
- local application of pain killer creams will help in alleviating the pain & inflammation.
