Cranial Pressure With Headaches And Neck Pain. Gabapentin Releives Headache, Constant Pressure. Underlying Cause ?
I am having cranial pressure with headaches and neck pain. I am taking 1200 mg of gabapentin for the headaches and it is controlling most of the pain. The cranial pressure is continuing without any relief. The pressure and headaches started over three months ago. I have had MRI's of the brain with and without contrast, MRI of the neck/brainstem and MRA of the brain. They have found a small 2mm aneurysm, 3 bad disc against the spinal cord and possible thyroid disease (seeing thyroid specialist next week).
The cranial pressure is constant, 24 hours a day. My VA neurologist does not have any answers. He does not want see me again till Feb.
Do you have any thoughts about what might be causing this pressure?
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
You have already stated that there is an aneurysm 2mm in the brain and also 3 bad disc against the spinal cord. Now this finding can contribute to the increased pressure in the head. I understand that your neuro specialist doesn't want to see you until february. May be you can get consulted by your orthopedics doctor for the spinal problem. Also meanwhile Amitriptyline could be nice drug to help you with this problem. Do contact your pain specialist/psychiatrist for the same. Regards Dr. Srikanth Reddy
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
