Cut Index Finger, Healed, Got Lump Underneath, Painful, Difficult To Bend. What Can Be Done?

I cut my middle joint of my index finger about 2 months ago. It healed and sealed with a very light scar on its own. I noticed it got a little localized lump underneath the scar after healing. Before this wasn t a huge problem-just tender to the touch. However, In the last few days, it has become painful, difficult to bend, and even has some throbbing/burning pain randomly. I coach volleyball and am wondering if the repetitions have hindered the healing process, created more scar tissue , and/or injured a tendon . Thoughts?

It is painful because there might be involvement of nerve endings.
