Cut Knuckle And Is Now Swollen, Red And Painful. Applied Antibiotic Ointment. Treatment?

Hi. I cut my knuckle of my index finger 2 weeks ago. It bleed quite a bit and I realize I should have had sutures but I did not seek medical attention. The cut seemed to be somewhat healing but opened up a little yesterday and today the knuckle is red, swollen and painful. Not sure what could be done at this point. I have been applying antibiotic ointment. Thank you.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The red and swollen knuckle after a cut could be due to an infection in the area. The injured tendon might need a surgical repair. Do consult an orthopedician for proper treatment and antibiotics.
