Cut On Upper Vulva Above Clitoris, Itching, Red In Colour. History Of Yeast Infection. Suggestion?
Hi, I have an appt. with my doctor tomorrow, but I just wanted some insight.. I have a small cut on my upper vulva area above my clitoris, and have had sever itching, which in turn is making the area a bit red and irritated. I have had yeast infections and UTIs before. I just wanted to know if it seemed like a symptom of a yeast infection, as I have been reading about similar symptoms. I don't have any other symptoms or a usual yeast infection and this has been going on for about 4 months now, sometimes the cut goes away and then it comes back and that's when the itching comes on. I thought that this cut was brought on by shaving, but I don't seem to think this anymore, because I have had cut myself before and it went away shortly after not to return again. Thanks!

I went through your complaints. The cut and itching in the vulva above clitoris are your main complaints. The itching in the vulvar region may be normal. Only if the itching is permanent, we have analyze the cause.
You already had vulval thrush.
The other causes are so many.
Infection, skin lesions, allergic to any etiology like soap etc., Urinary Tract Infection,
As you say cut which disappear and reappear along with itching – you have to rule out Diabetics. This cut and itching need have association with shaving
If Diabetics is ruled out you need a clinical examination by a DR of your vulva and vagina and if needed vaginal smear, because of chronicity of itching.
You say only itching and no visible skin lesions – so many skin lesions are ruled out
During peri menopausal period and due to unexplained reasons itching may be there
For you the commonest cause is thrush, if diabetics is ruled out.

When you scratch over the cut area, that will lead to further increasing in the size of the cut and also the cut can get infected.
So you have to avoid scratching.
And better to get examined to find out the actual nature of the lesion, because as you are getting the problem repeatedly.
If you are having vaginal infection also once go for vaginal swab culture and sensitivity.
Check for blood sugar levels once. This time both partners to be treated simultaneously to avoid future inter-transmission of infection.
