Cyst In Brain In Six Month Child, Please Advise Me

hi, My six month sister's baby boy has choroid plexus cyst in his brain and his development is very slow although he can hold his neck and control his body. we have visited a Doctor and he suspected about down syndrome. i want to know, is any connection between cyst and Down syndrome and any test available for down syndrome. waiting for reply

One can diagnose down syndrome by karyotype test.This test is done to detect the abnormalities related to the chromosome in one's body.By this it can be detected whether a person is having down syndrome or not.

hello,
downs syndrome can be associated with a lot of congenital malformations like asd of the heart ect. You also need to rule out other syndromes like marfans in whom cysta rae mor common. I would advise you to consult a neonatologist in this regard. Get a dna analysis to diagnose the syndrome. In the mean time continue the immunisation and healthy feeding.
