Cyst In Right Ovary, Mild Endometriosis. Hysterectomy Required Where Both Ovaries Are Removed, Menopause. Alternative Options?
I am 48 years old and have a endo cyst on my right ovary for 14 months now its 2 1/2 cm, my ob/gyn sent me for a MRI to find theres no change but, now there is a nonspecific something on my left ovary and mile endometriosis , I m being to I should probably have a hysterectomy and both ovaries removed but, I dont want to go into instant menopause ...what do you think about going this way?
In my opinion you need not go for a ovary removal at such young age. Such instant manopause has lot of side effects.
There are many medical therapies available. Hormonal treatment is very successful. If you havn't tried that then ask your doctor to try that first.
If you want surgical treatment, ask your doctor for selective removal of cyst from the ovary. During laproscopy, we see the ovary and decide the surgery according to the disease found there. I have seen that most patients benefit with laproscopic treatment.

Hysterectomy with oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) should be the last resort. Hope I have answered your query. Dr. Juhi.
