Damaged Hip Muscle. Pain While Exerting. How Long Will It Take To Heal?

I have been bothered with my hip muscle. My trainer at school told me it was my hip flexor this happened around 5 weeks ago during a baseball game when I hit the ball and ran. It felt a pulling I couldn't lift my leg up for a couple of days. After going through rehab now for 5 weeks it seems to be getting better but when I hit the ball during batting BP it still causes pain? I have been out for most of season and am anxious to returning to play. How much longer should it take and is there anything else that I can be doing to speed up the recovery time? Also is there something else that could be wrong that is delaying my recovery

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Generally, any soft tissue injury will take a minimum of 3 weeks to heal and settle down. As you have already under rehab program for more than 5 weeks, I don't think that the muscle is causing you the pain.

I suspect some issues in your Hip joint. So have an MRI scan of your Hip joint which will show up all the problems in the hip joint.

I advice you to take rest so as to give some time for the soft tissues to heal.

Consult an orthopedic surgeon and follow his advice accordingly.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Hi
Thank for choosing HCM, In my opinion you first go to some orthopedic surgeon then discus it with him, and then you will need to see the physiotherapist too, they will guide you in right way,, Have nice day.
