Death Due To Cardiac Arrest And Punctured Lung After Car Accident. What Could Be Done Differently?
my husband was in a car accident and air lifted to the trauma center for a head injury. having scalped his head and cutting through all layers and artury just to the skull he was expected to be okay. during surgery the anesthesiologist did not notice his oxygen level was dropping. they had to replace the tube and as they did my husband aspirated a large amoubt. the pressure from the doctors pushing the tube in caused him to go into cardiac arrest. 20 minutes later they got him breathing again after using the dafibrillators. his lung was punctured, he was put on the ventilator, he got pneumonia, and then ARDS. 5 dyalisis he had didn't work and he ended up dying after 7 days. what could they have done differently
We can see that each event is related to the other. However the single most important event that could possibly change the course of events is the aspiration by your husband which if prevented, could avoid puncturing his lung and then subsequently not causing ARDS which is the likely cause of cardio respiratory failure leading to death. May his soul rest in peace.
Hope this helps.
