Delayed Periods. Pregnancy Tests Showed Negative. Prescribed Provera To Induce Menstruation. After Last Pill, Pregnancy Test Positive. Opinion?

hi
Last week, I went to an OB-Gyne to check if I'm pregnant since i was 1 and half months delayed.
We had several urine test and transvaginal and got negative results.
She however, issued a Provera to induce menstruation.
3days after the last pill, I still do not menstruate.
So, I decided to take another pregnancy test and it shows positive.

How could that be? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi,
If ovulation occured late in that cycle, conception will also be delayed, which is common in women who do not have regular cycles. In that situation pregnancy tests done earlier may give negative results.Consult your gynae doctor for further advice, who will decide on repeat ultrasound tests etc.
with regards,
Dr.vasuki
