Delayed Periods, Weight Loss, Great Stress And Anxiety Due To Personal Problems. History Of Having Protected Sex. Possible Pregnancy?
I have been under a great deal of stress and anxiety lately(going through a break up) my period is a week late and I have lost 8 pounds in three weeks. I am 31, 5'5 and weigh 109 pounds right now. I did have intercourse a month ago but we used a condom. I am just worried about the missed period. I keep feeling menstrual cramps but nothing!
I am sorry to hear that you have delayed menses and all the troubling thoughts this has caused you. Stress and such weight loss withing 3weeks can actually cause your menses not to show up. Also, having used condoms makes pregnancy less likely. The best way to tell what is going on is to do a rapid pregnancy test which will tell whether you are pregnant or not. if yo u are not pregnant, then i will advice you to patiently wait and only take active measures if you should not have your menses by the next expected due date.
I will advise that you consider talking with your doctor for a more reliable means of contraception until when you are ready to become pregnant. I wish you good health. Dr. Ditah, MD
