Developed Neurogenic Bladder. Foley Catheter Inserted. What Could Have Caused Urination Problem?

I had a foley cath inserted overnight using a leg bag. In the am, I hadn't urinated all night, when I placed the leg bag to gravity, 750cc fluid drained. I was in discomfort most of the night but, didn't know why. (Today 3day later), Now I can't fully empty my bladder & have to self cath q 4 hrs. My Dr. Said I developed a neurogenic bladder. D u think this may have been caused by the foley that did not drain all night?

Dear sir/ madam
1. No, its not that you develop a neurogenic bladder because the folley's catheter did not drain whole night.
2. The use of folley's catheter for long period may lead to inability to pass urine on your own for sometime. This may be a reason for your problem if clinically correlating. However neurogenic bladder by definition will always be secondary to neurological illness.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
