Developed Strong Allergic Reaction After Having Macrobid. How Long Does It Stay In Body?

How long does Macrobid stay in my system?
I developed a strong allergic reaction - rash and hives all over my body - after taking Macrobid for 7 days.
Antihistamine drip and steroid injection at Emergency Dept on Friday, Apr. 26/13
Sent home with 3 Apo-Prednisone 50 mg to be taken Sat, Sun, Mon
I am still experiencing a lot of itching and hives popping up all over my body, limbs and head.

Hi
Macrobid contains Nitrofurantoin . on oral ingestion Nitrofurantoin is rapidly excreted in in bile and urine. Nitrofurantoin has a short elimination half-life in whole blood or plasma and there is little evidence for any prolonged binding of nitrofurantoin to either plasma proteins or tissues. If your symptoms of Allergic reaction persist you can continue Prednisolone 50 mg daily until it subside and reduce and off it by tapering doses.
