Diagnosed With Epididymitis. On Doxycycline. Have An Ache In Pelvic Area. The Ache Is Nerve Racking. Bladder Cancer?

Diagnosed with Epididymitis 2 months ago. Had ultrasound, phsyical exam, and urine tests. Doctor said I had Epididymitis. Gave me a shot of antibiotics and then prescribed doxycycline . I have been taking this for the duration and just finished my last dose 4 days ago. Most of the pain in the testicles and epididmys has gone, but I have a dul ache in my pelvic area. This can be worse when my bladder is full. Is this related to the Epididymitis and should I be back on antibiotics. The ache is nothing major but it can be nerve racking to think something else may be going on with my body. Is there a chance of bladder cancer or other illnesses going on?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

The dull aching pain in the pelvis with previous history of epididymis is the sequelae of the preceding inflammation.
Since, the pain in testis and epididymis has disappeared, the acute phase of the inflammation has cleared up.
Pelvic pain is not characteristic of bladder cancer.
Bladder cancers usually presents with blood in urine, and constitutional symptoms like weight loss, decrease appetite, weakness, tiredness, etc.
If you want to rule out bladder cancer, some investigations need to be done.
A routine urine examination for malignant cells needs to be done.
A cystoscopy of the bladder can also be done to look for any growth in the bladder wall.

Thanks and take care

The symptoms are very much related to epididymitis. A 4- 6 week course of antibiotics is usually necessary for complete treatment.
No, these symptoms are not those of bladder cancer. relax!
