Diagnosed With IBS, Cramps, Lower Abdomen Swell. Takes Vitamins, Metamucil For Fiber. What Is The Treatment?

my 17 year old daughter was diagonsed with IBS about 2 and half years ago. she hasnt had any cameras up or down yet. she has agreed to have the camera down but wont do the camera up! Her diet is very limited cause all food is YUCK and even to the point of not eating an apple. the only nutrient rich food she gets is usually dinner at night when i make sure she has some vege and meat. the pain is when she is actuallly eating, when the food hits the stomach she gets cramps.. her lower abdomen does swell when she has issues with her bowel. She is also having major issues with acne.. She is under stress with school and today, just feels sick and dizzy. She takes vitamins to supplement the fact she doesnt eat enough or properly and metamucil for fibre..

Hi,
Once all other causes are ruled out and having been diagnosed with IBS, you can attempt control symptoms via diet. A few useful advice are - eat regular meals, do not skip meals or eat late at night, take your time when eating meals, sit down to eat and chew your food well, take regular exercise-walking, cycling or swimming, make time to relax. Taking time off from a busy schedule to relax can help reduce in acne as well.
Limit intake of food containing resistant starches that tend to ferment and produce gas like pulses, whole grains, undercooked potato etc. Oats and golden linseeds may help with symptoms of wind and bloating. Increase probiotic and water intake.
Hope this helps,
