Diagnosed With Bone Spurs, Arthritis In Neck. Have Fibromyalgia. No Help From Any Medications And Fentanyl Patches. Thoughts?
Hi there, I have been recently diagnosed with bone spurs and arthritis in my neck, on top of having fibromyalgia. I am really struggling with pain and haven't found anything that has made any difference to me. I am sure that I also have pinched nerves as well. I am taking gabapentin, tramadol, co-codemol, ibuprofen or naproxen. I have tried morphine and fentanyl patches to no avail. I live in the UK and am finding that my doctor doesn't seem to know a lot in regards to pain relief and am at my wits end for pain! Any thoughts would be most appreciated to take back to my GP. Thank you so much!
Seems like you have tried most of the analgesic medications. What I would recommend is adding a muscle relaxant like Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) or Chlorzoxazone or Tizanidine.
Local heat, correct neck posturing, activity modification will be helpful. See a physiotherapist who can help with muscle relaxation techniques.
Pinched nerves give pain, tingling, numbness in the arms and if you have any of these MRI of cervical spine needs to be obtained.
Wish you the best.
