Diagnosed With Diabetes After An Accident With No Family History. Can It Be Work Related?

When I had my spleen removed,due to a serious big rig accident,my pancreas was bruised,my liver was lacerated,since then I was diagnosed with having diabetic 2,nobody in my family has it,I ve always taken care of myself,very active in the gym,ate very healthy food,now workman comp,is denying that it s work related!what s your intake? Injury to pancreas can promote fibrosis and may damage beta cells (the cells that produce insulin) causing transient rise in blood sugars. but this more theory than clinically applicable. post traumatic stress disorder can also make you prone for diabetes. You need further workup to precisely answer your question like Insulin levels, CT abdomen and pancreatic function tests, but they may be of little help.
however, it is important to keep diabetes in control, irrespective of the cause.
