Diagnosed With Hypertension. Have Fbs Is 112 And Ppbs Is 168. Taking Glycomet. Can I Stop The Medication?

i am a 23 year old male and i have recently diagnose with hypertension.i was in a lot of stress last month due to some financial problems.. my a1c is also high but my fbs is 112 and ppbs is 168 and they have put me on medication of glycomet 1gm for eleveted sugar and for hypertension amtas at and lot of medication im just slight overweight.. can i get rid of the medications i have started doing exercise so that all my problems are in control ... my height is 5'6" and weight 72 kg how much weight i have to loose to stop the medication i dont want to be on meds my whole life and now im very serious about health .. please help me

Thanks for your query to HCM.
1. It is not guaranteed but yes you may be off-medications if you work on life style modifications.
2. It requires a diligent work-up by your physician to look for any end-organ damage or complication of diabetes or hypertension. Because in that case you will have to take medicines.
3. The life style modification include optimization of weight (BMI~23), daily supervised exercise, cessation of smoking, moderation of alcohol, low salt diet, no sweets/ no high glycemic index foods, meditation, avoiding all fried items in diet & taking diet rich in vegetables, fruits, legumes, and nuts.
