Diagnosed With Increased Broncovascular Markings Bilaterally. Can This Lead To Lung Cancer?
hello doctor, ,y husband is 32 yrs.currently his x-ray reports diagnosed increased broncovascular markings bilaterally, but the pulmonologist said he is fine.now for my curiosity, kindly confirm me whether this can lead to any diseases like tuberculosis or lung cancer.and is there any treatment possible to get rid of the mark in x-ray for future.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Let me explain you , why there are increased bronchovascular markings bilaterally ( on both side) & what is its meaning. Increased bronchovascular markings find in , 1 Allergy, 2 intense ( moderate to severe cough), 3 smoking ( smoker's cough), 4 lower respiratory infection ( pneumonia etc). As far as concerned about tuberculosis , there find cavities , which is not present in your husband case. Cancer shows very dark shadow , which is not present in your husband case. If still you have any doubt then consult a radiologist and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
Unfortunately, this is not a risk factor for lung cancer. A strong risk factor for lung cancer is mainly smoking, asbestosis or a family history of lung cancer. For now, you might have undertake some other lung function tests and lung volumes (spirometry) with your pulmonologist. Adeqate control of any causative disease like chronic obstructive broncbhopneumopathies shall make you to leave a normal life. You do not need to worry about lung cancer, especially based on the markings. No worries and kind regards.
