Diagnosed With Post Concussion Syndrome, Bulging Disc In Neck. Prescribed Celebrex One Pill A Day. Right Dosage?

Hi...I have been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome and a bulging disk in my neck - I incurred a neck injury 2 weeks ago....headaches got worse and worse...had MRIs. Dr's office gave me samples of Celebrex 200MG...I take Dexilant 60MG. Do I take Celebrex with or without food? I believe 1 pill a day....is this correct? I hear it has a lot of side effects.....is this true?

Dear friend,

Thanks for posting your query on this website. I fully appreciate your concerns.

Celebrex, being a pain killer, should be taken with or after meals.

Further, depending on the degree of headache, you may start with 100mg daily in morning. If there is no desirable effect, increase the dose to one capsule (100mg) twice a day.

Yes, chronic use of Celebrex may cause an increased risk of serious adverse cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction and stroke, which can be fatal.

Therefore, I will recommend that it should be tapered off and eventually stopped once recover completely.

I am confident that you will certainly benefit from the advice.

May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance and will try my best to cure your condition to the best of my experience and knowledge.

Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.

HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Fond Regards,

Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
