Diarrhea After Eating. Taking Probiotics, Darker Stools. Is This The Cause For Concern?
Hello, for a few months I experienced diarrhea after eating. Didn't matter what food, but 95% of the time after eating I had to run to the bathroom. I started taking probiotics about 5-7days ago to help. The past couple trips to the bathroom the diarrhea has completely stopped, but now my stool is a darker color. Should I be concerned? I'm not experiencing stomach pain, excessive gas, or any nausea.
Hi, no need to panic. Diarrhea after eating doesn't suggest a serious condition. It can fit into irritable bowel syndrome. Probiotics is the right treatment choice you have started on. But darker stools can be due to medication, few foods also apart from bleeding in the upper gastro intestinal tract which is called malena due to various causes like peptic ulcers, oesophageal varices etc. But your symptoms doesn't indicate serious cause. Consult a physician and get stool routine done to rue out the causes. Hope this might help!
