Difficulty In Lifting Arm Above Shoulder, Got Electrocuted. Should I Meet A Doctor?
Was electrocuted while working on a car (dropped exhaust on starter lead and hand was stuck to pipe) and now I can not lift my arm above my shoulder. I did not think it was that bad even though the battery leads had melted before I was able to release. Should I be concerned and run to the hospital, or is this something that will just work itself out in a week or two. The incident occurred 5 days ago.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi and welcome to HCM Although it isn't possible to diagnose your condition without an examination and a few tests, your history is suggestive of Adhesive capsulitis(Frozen shoulder) or Calcific tendonitis.
These conditions are easily managed by regular physiotherapy ( Range of motion exercices, stretching and strengthening exercises). Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), can help reduce pain and inflammation associated with this condition
I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
