Difficulty Swallowing Food. Why Are There Food Particles Stuck In Throat? Cure?
food particles are coming up my throat mostly during sleep i also have difficulty swallowing food so I drink water to get it down my throat it s been quite some time since I ve slept well as I often severely cough up food and water, I took an endoscopy and found out that my eosophagus has shrunk a bit and my bowel movement is not proper, is there a cure for this, I m not on medication now, kindly help .......
if your esophagus has shrunk or has a "stricture" then you can develop difficulty swallowing. Your gastroenterologist can perform an esophageal "dilation" to open it up so you can swallow normally again, however this procedure might need to be repeated from time to time.
You may also have a motility problem in the esophagus where your muscles in the esophagus do not contract as well, and therefore gives you difficulty swallowing. There is a special test called manometry to evaluate this.
There is no medication to cure this.
