Hello. I am 44yrs old. Had one kid. I just had my pap smear done in February this year. The result stated "No intraepithelial lesion or malignancy. No specific infection detected. Benign cellular changes associated with inflamation/reactive." My last period was 30Sep, half a month ago. Since beginning, my menstruation has been regular, abt 28-30days gap. This morning I had some vaginal discharge that looked like blood stain, last having sex with my husband last night. Is it normal? Thanks.
Dear Tana,
Bleeding after sex is not normal. If there was inflammation earlier,it may have worsened (possibility),visit a gynaecologist and get it cheked again.
Some times there may occur little blood tinged discharged at the time of ovulation. This happens to some women.
Dr. Anshita,
Thank you for your reply. I waited for 1 week, it looked like a menstruation/period flow but not heavy, lasted 5 days. The only concern now is the gap from the last menstruation was 14 days ago. Yes, I will definitely get it checked by gynae who specialise in women's sickness to rule out any serious problem, rather than a gynae who specialise in delivery of babies, as the latter tends to just say nothing is wrong.

Blood during intercourse needs evaluation. There are many reasons. Vaginal infections (Trichomoniasis, Vaginal yeast infection), cervical infections (Chlamydia,Gonorrhea), Abnomral finding on pap smear(Cervical dysplasia), Cervical polyps,, Endometritis or adenomyosis. All can cause blood during intercourse. You need Pelvic examination and Ultrasound initially. I recommend you consult a Gynecologist for proper testing.
Regards,
Dr. Jagdish
