Dizzy, Light Headed, Vision Blurry. What Should I Do?

I am 48 yrs old and I work nights driving a tractor trailer. 8 weeks ago, I became dizzy, light headed my vision was blurry everything froze for second. I couldnt focus. I went to emergency room next day and my blood pressure was 200/110. I was given CAT scan which was normal. Doctor gave me BP meds which caused many side effects. have been out of work since this happened. I feel dizzy when I eat my BP goes from normal to high at any moment. I had ekg it was normal also echocardiagraam and 24 halter monitor all good. Now I have excessive belching . Doctor had me stop all meds until we figure this out. I do not smoke . I am about 15 pounds over weight according to height weight chart. I asked family doctor to refer me to cardiologist who just wanted to prescribe more BP meds Disregarded my blurry vision and fact that I cannot focus and therefore cannot work. I just want to feel normal again. I have never taken any medications except antibiotic.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Your Blood Pressure reading of 200/ 110 is very high and if untreated could cause many complications like stroke / heart attack etc. The dizziness, light headedness, and blurred vision might be attributed to the high BP.

So, it is mandatory that you take your BP meds.. They do have side effects, but hopefully your doctor can choose one that is best for you.

Luckily , your brain and heart are ok as of now based on your CAT scan , ECG, ECHO.

How about your cholesterol levels? Any history of diabetes?

Try to reduce your weight by exercise and healthy low fat diet after consulting your physician in this regard.

Hope this helps.
