Do Ativan, Zoloft, Trazodone And Risperidone Interact With Each Other?
My granddaughter is on multiple medications and I would like to see if there are interactions with what she is on. These are are meds: divalproex/depakote 500 mg 2 tabs in morning and 3 tabs at bedtime; lorazepam/ativan 1 mg one tab 4x s daily as needed for anxiety; sertraline/zoloft 50 mg take 1 1/2 tab daily; desyrel/trazodone 100 mg take 2 at bedtime and risperdal/risperidone one mg take 1 tab every morning and 2 tabs at bedtime. She is turning 22 in March. I believe this is much too much medication for her to be on.
Sertraline and trazadone should not be used together. There are risks of serious side effects.
Both of these medications increase the levels of a chemical called serotonin which can cause a condition called serotonin syndrome. In general these two are not used together unless the benefits outweigh potential risk.
There are also other potential interactions between other medications but not as serious as this.
She may need to consider speaking to her doctor just to make sure that the combination is beneficial.
I hope this helps
