Do I Need To Get Surgery Done For My Anteriorlisthesis?

Hi, i have been diagnosed with L5 S1 anteriorlisthesis of Grade 1. I am 36 years old and maintain a very healthy lifestyle and fitness regimen. I have experienced lower back pain only once which lasted for 3 days. Do i need a surgery or will regular and proper exercise keep this condition from getting worse?

Hello!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

At this stage of listhesis, considering your complaints, I would not recommend surgery.
Avoiding heavy weight lifting and prolonged standing up or sitting position is necessary to avoid the progression of the disorder.
Periodical follow ups with lumbar CT scan or MRI are necessary to investigate for possible progression. In case of increased pain or limited physical activity, surgery may be needed.

Hope to have been helpful to you!
Best wishes!
