Do I Need To Take A Rabies Vaccination For The Dog Bite Which Has Not Been Given Vaccination?
Hi, My Lab Dog is 2 Month old and today It scratched in my leg with teeth and small blood has come, still we have not given rabies vaccination for dog, veterinary doctor has advised to give rabies vaccination when the dog age turns 3 Month old.
Do I need to take rabies vaccination, kindly suggest.
On reading your question it is evident that you got a bite from your unvaccinated lab dog and you want yo know if you should go for vaccination for yourself.
From my clinical experince I can say that had I been seeing such a case, I would advice that --- one should go for atleast thee doses of rabies vaccine and then wait for next ten days and see the dog. If the dog is healthy and survives ten days , the you can stop further injections.
But if any unwanted behavior is seen with dog during this time period, or the dog dies, the you should be completing the course of rabies vaccine.
So, start vaccine and watch the dog.
Hoep you got the reply feel free to ask more questions Dr. Manisha Gopal
