Do Synthroid And Lisinopril Cause Fatigue?

I just started talking Synthroid 6 weeks ago. My doctor started me on 25 mg for 4 weeks and now I’m on 50 mg. I’ve been extremely tired and my blood pressure is on the low side. I take 10 mg of lisinopril daily. Last night it was 113/83 and I didn’t take my meds today and at 4pm it was 109/72. Do you think the fatigue has anything to do with the medication? Too much, too little?

Hi,

I cannot say whether it's a low synthroid dose, a high lisinopril dose or something else. I can say that all the aforementioned potential causes may apply.

-If the dosage of synthroid is too low for you then you may be feeling tiredness.
-If the dosage of lisinopril is too high for you then you may have symptoms. 113/83 and 109/72 are low blood pressures for someone who's taking antihypertensive treatment.

We usually aim for blood pressures around 130/80. When the systolic blood pressure is too low the patient may experience fatigue or faintness. In such cases, we usually reduce the dosage.

- Finally if you're having other disorders like anemia or electrolyte disorders then you may also have the same symptoms. If your doctor suspects anything else besides side effects then the investigation would be required.

In cases like yours, I usually start with the antihypertensive medication as its effects can be instantly evident. Reducing the dosage a bit may help. Remember to consult your doctor before attempting any change.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
