my father has been diagnosed with MRSA in his blood stream and he s taking antibiotics by IV daily for 6 weeks. He just mentioned he was having dark, black stools. is this the bug or the antibiotics causing that and should we contact his primary doc?
Hello, Although blac stools can be caused by oral antibiotics but gastric bleeding can also result in black stools. You should get his stool tested for occult blood. Presence of blood would mean bleeding inside and then it requires immediate intervention. Thanks
