Yes it works, provided the vaccine is for that particular stain prevalent in the society at that particular time.
Usually this vaccine also contain antigen for HINI disease, hence it also protects the person from Bird flu also.
Any vaccine is not cent percent protective, there are 3 - 4 percent chances of failure.
So I would always like to advice for taking the vaccine every year.
