Do I Need Fistulectomy If Having An Internal Opening In Rectal Area?

Hi I had got an internal rectal canal infection ( about 2.5 inches deep on right side) about 7 months back and this also caused internal spasm and pain. My WBC count was very high. I visited 4 well known surgeon , but non confirmed a fissure or hamerroids. they all said , it is just an infection.and With some antibiotics , It was taken care. It took some 25 days for me with different antibiodtics and at last got rid off with this infection and fever with tab. Augmentin.

Thereafter , I have been cleaning(washing) my rectal canal after passing stool with the help of a 40 ml lukewarm water using a syringe wash. This process has been done from last 7 months and I was feeling perfectly normal without any pain. But as soon as I try to stop this process for 2 days , I got infection/fever again I have to go back to anti-biotics (with doctors prescription only) .

docotor has advised there is some interenal opening in my rectal area and a complete fistualctomy surgery to be carried out by making secondary opening from outside and probe for primary opening. and it would be a big surgery

Is it possible to find the primary opening from inside and close it there itself after cleaning it or I need to get cut my rectal area completely

My bood repor (CBC) and stool / urine teast were OK , excpet my WBC count wich was high during last infection and current infection.

Though I am not experiencing any pain after my fever and infections have been cured with antibiotic course.

Should I for for futsulactomy ? or there is alternative treatment where primary opening can be blocked

I shall be grateful for your expert advises.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

This is internal fistula of high level type.

You must get surgery of fistulectomy at the earliest possible time in a good setup hospital with ano-rectal specialist surgeon (there are no options other than this).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
