Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I currently take the following medication. Physioten, metoprolol tartrate, fosinopril sodium, and amlodipine and atorvastatin (combined). My question, I have right atrial enlargement. One of these drugs may contribute to its enlargement and I m trying to work out which one. Do u know.
Hi & Welcome to HCM. The prescribed medications are unlikely to cause right atrial enlargement. The most common causes of an enlarged right atrium in adults are chronic pulmonary disease, severe mitral valvular abnormalities with pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary emboli & tricuspid valvular stenosis. You need to be evaluated by a cardiologist and an echocardiograph may be advised to find out the possible cause of the right atrial enlargement. Hope this will help you.
