Do Microalbumin, FBS And PLBS Values Indicate Kidney Damage?

Hello Doctor! My husband is a type 2 diabetic patient and he is on oral medication from the past 4 years. In recent routine checkup his micro albumin shows a value of 18.5 and FBS & PLBS are 162 and 302. When we went to an endocrinologist, he told that the damage of kidney(s) just started and suggested to take insulin. Please suggest.

welcome to hcm,
micro albuminuria is the earliest indication of diabetic nephropathy. that is the reason that your endocrinologist has suggested you for a insulin regimen.
it is better to be prevented than to be treated so i think your endocrinologist advice to change to a strict diabetic control will be better for your kidneys and overall your health status.
hope this explains
